Media Communications

Getting media coverage of our work is a huge aspiration for all of our teams. The first challenge is getting reporters and journalists interested. Once you start compiling a list of interested media contacts, you then have to prepare yourself for how to most effectively communicate to them. The section of the communication guide provides tips and resources for talking and writing to media contacts. For our complete guidelines on media coverage, see Phase II: Getting the campaign off the ground.

The first thing most of us think of is writing a press release. However, a lengthy and detailed press release is not always the best way to attract media attention. It is certainly important to write and distribute them, but look at the more as a resume than an interview. The resume may get you the interview, but it’s really the interview where you will have a chance to shine.
